Town Marshal
The Town of Roachdale is accepting applications for a full-time Town Marshal. Applicants should be police officers who have completed at least Tier II ILEA with special attention paid to those who have completed Tier I ILEA.

Minimum Requirements:
-
Graduation from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy or a reciprocal institution. (Tier II minimum, Tier I preferred)
-
Must be a U.S. citizen and be at least 21 years old at time of hire
-
Shall be a high school graduate or possess a GED certificate
-
Shall possess a valid, unrestricted Indiana driver’s license (or obtain one within 60 days of becoming an Indiana resident)
-
Good driving record
-
Shall have no felony convictions and have not been convicted of any serious misdemeanor crimes including domestic violence or crimes that prohibit the possession and carrying of a firearm
-
Shall not have been dishonorably discharged from the military
-
Physically and mentally able to perform essential job functions
-
Uncorrected vision of 20/100 or better and corrected vision of 20/40 or better
-
Be able to pass an extensive background investigation and security threat assessment
-
Be of good moral character and possess a high degree of honesty and integrity
-
Possess an acceptable level of verbal and written skills
-
Possess an acceptable level of dexterity to successfully execute the essential duties and functions of the job

Possess the ability to interact appropriately with the public, department members, elected officials, and others

Minimum Duties:
-
Patrol assigned areas on a regular basis to prevent and detect criminal activity
-
Respond to emergency calls and provide assistance as needed
-
Enforce laws, regulations, and town ordinances to maintain public order
-
Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and make arrests when necessary
-
Write accurate, detailed reports on incidents, investigations, and arrests
-
Conduct surveillance operations to gather intelligence
-
Conduct ordinance enforcement
-
Act as a command officer in charge of shift operations
-
Provides training, instruction, evaluation and supervision of all assigned personnel, including work performance for completeness, accuracy, and compliance within established departmental standards
-
Responds to calls for assistance from deputy and reserve marshals and assume scene command of critical incidents; controls and assess situations, identifies appropriate actions to preserve crime scenes, compiles critical information and coordinates activities with other jurisdictions

Maintain continuing education requirements as mandated by the State of Indiana
-
Maintain all equipment and vehicles in a clean and ready state of repair
-
Prepare monthly operational reports for the Town Council
-
Comply with all mandates and directives from the Town Council
